A race is about to start.

"The Go-Kart Mystery" is part 2 of episode 16. It first aired Feb 16th, 2010.

Premise[]

Alfred's team is accused of Foul play after multiple accidents occur on the day of the Gnarly Woods Go-Kart race.

Summary[]

Cynthia and Alfred are preparing for the beginning of the upcoming race. Mr. Thomas explains the rules and reminds them to play fairly, then he waves the flag. Cynthia has trouble starting- only to realize she forgot to release the brakes. As the race is going on, Ms. Hedgehog and Mrs. Payne are the commentators who watch the two teams racing each other.

Suddenly, something hits Alfred, causing him to crash off to the side. Cynthia passes by and he gets back into the kart to try to catch up. Cynthia loops back around and gets out, allowing Louise to hop in for her turn. Alfred arrives and Camille gets into their kart next, asking Alfred what happened. He explains an egg hit him from somewhere and she quickly takes off to gain a lead over Louise. But when a bunch of baby birds suddenly wander onto the path she skids to a stop, expressing relief that none of them got hurt. This allows Louise to get in front of her, forcing Camille to quickly try to catch up.

Louise pulls up to let Gabby go next, but Cynthia pushes her aside and decides to go for the final lap. Camille and Milo switch out and things appear to be going well- just for Cynthia to become distracted when she hears a voice. This causes her to crash into the nearby pond, and Milo immediately pulls over to help her out. She ends up blaming him for the crash though, causing Alfred and Camille to come to his defense when Mr. Thomas approaches by bringing up that things ended up happening to them too. He threatens to cancel the race if they aren't able to determine what happened, and Cynthia decides to tag along.

They start by investigating the course in the various spots where the distractions occurred. Alfred asks Cynthia to imitate the noise she heard since they don't hear it now, and while Milo walks along the path he finds a piece of the shell from the egg that hit Alfred. Cynthia continues to try to match the sound she heard as Camille stumbles across the baby chicks that got in her way during the face. Cynthia finally gets the right sound recorded and they decide to go over everything at Hedgequarters. Milo is annoyed Cynthia joined them there too, but Alfred pays it little mind while looking up what type of species this bird egg belongs to. He comes across the "Warbler" and Camille wonders if someone stole the eggs and chicks to tamper with the race.

Alfred replays the recording of the sound Cynthia heard and they notice the chicks they collected from earlier reacting to the sound. They return to the forest and head back to the race course to discover a nest in one of the trees. Alfred asks Mr. Thomas to remove the nest, and once he returns, Alfred removes the eggs and puts the chicks back in it. He explains that cuckoo birds are lazy, and likely to take nest already inhabited by other birds. This explains why the chicks were on the ground, the noise Cynthia heard and why that egg fell when it did. Mr. Thomas goes to return the nest to the tree and they prepare to take the other eggs to another tree, laughing together along the way.
