Mrs. and Mr. Hedgehog are talking when Alfred, Lily, Camille and Milo comes in with the trunk they found up in the attic. Mrs. Hedgehog explains to them that it was an inheritance she received from her aunt, Lady Crabtree. Despite how she acted at times -and her name- she was a nice person. She lets the four of them look through the trunk and she heads off to prepare lunch with her husband.

Camille comes across a couple of pearls, and soon they find more. Alfred gets an idea and suggests they use the pearls to make a necklace to his mom, and Lily asks if she can give it to her. They agree and head to his bedroom to get started, when Alfred suddenly notices that the pearls lack holes, so they aren't sure of how to thread them. Suddenly, Milo gets bit by a mosquito. Alfred mentions that Lily accidentally left opened the door and they are startled realizing there are more mosquito's in there. They go on to let Mr. Hedgehog know.

The following morning, Alfred wakes up to find the pearls missing. He rushes around the house to find Lily to discretely ask her about it, but she briskly reminds him that he took it upon himself to watch them, so she didn't touch them. They silence themselves to avoid letting their parents overhear them, and after breakfast, Alfred contacts Milo and Camille and explains what happened.

They meet up and return to Alfred's room to start looking around there, quickly eliminating the idea of a thief having stole the pearls. Milo sneezes just then, and they note a lack of prints to support that theory. It's then they notices something on the bed, but it's just Lily, who came there and fell back to sleep after breakfast while Alfred waited for Milo and Camille. Alfred checks to see if the pearls may have fell when Camille notices small markings in the dust near the window. Alfred takes a picture and remarks that the mosquito's are completely gone, making both things clue one and two.

They head outside with some homemade signs for the missing pearls to see if anyone has any sort of idea what happened. Cynthia rushes to them and claims that she already found the thief- but she didn't catch them yet. She just wanted to know what the reward was. Alfred admits that he didn't give it any thought though, and he offers her a gumdrop as the only thing he had on person at the time. Cynthia accepts it, but she wants more than just one when she returns with the thief.

She leaves and Camille asks if a ghost took the pearls, and while discussing this Cynthia returns and claims Gabby stole them. However, she was stubborn and refused to admit it, but Alfred quickly deduces that they have a strange scent and identifies them as mints. Cynthia is annoyed and leaves to return them.

As they head back, Camille and Milo are slowly becoming convinced that maybe it was a ghost. Alfred refuses to believe this, and he lets Camille try to channel the spirit of Lady Crabtree to prove it. Just then, Milo jumps up in fright. Something rubbed up against him, but when they look, all they find is a small lizard. Alfred makes this their third clue and they head to Hedgequarters to examine them. While he connects the first and third clue together, the second one makes no sense. The lizard they found was a gecko, who most-likely ate the mosquitos in his room.

With a little research, Alfred believes he understands what happened and they return to his house. He finds the pearls in his desk and pulls them out to reveal a few baby gecko. Camille and Milo seem very confused, and he explains to them that the pearls were not pearls at all, but gecko eggs. They head outside to release the baby lizards and Cynthia runs up to them again, claiming she found the pearls.

Once Camille informs her that the pearls were never really missing, they are surprised when she shows them the object she found was a tooth. J.J. Raccoon appears and mentions having left a tooth for the tooth fairy, and Cynthia slowly begins to back away before running from them. J.J. slowly realizes what happened and chases after her, causing the others to laugh.
