As the trio work on their school's parade float, Camille asks which flower they should use. None of them can agree, so she ends up picking the daisies. Rudy comes over and mentions that he would help them, if he didn't have to clean the solar panels. He recalls how a friend of his from Black Forest said that they're still having trouble deciding a theme for the competition.

Noticing the time, Alfred suggests they wait until until tomorrow to finish. The others agree and they take off.

The following day the trio make their way over when they come across an irate Chloe, who demands Alfred find the person who shined light into her home. It woke her up. Milo mentions the parade and she agrees to let them finish their float first, then come over to investigate. The trio continue on their way and they are shocked to discover their float is completely burnt. Milo attempts to wake himself up under the assumption he's having a bad dream, but he realizes quickly that this isn't the case. Rudy is just as shocked as he comes by to ask what happened. Milo is quick to suggest Black Forest must have sabotaged them, leading Camille to ask Rudy if someone came by since they left. Rudy doesn't recall anyone being there, and Alfred determines that the incident occurred this morning.

They go to Mr. Thomas to explain what happened, but unfortunately the parade will be soon. If they can't finish their float, they will have to withdraw. Milo has an idea and this leads Alfred to determine their second clue, the fact the float was only half burned. With this, Alfred dismisses the idea of sabotage due to a lack of real evidence pointing in that direction.

Upon reaching Hedgequarters, Chloe flies out and asks them to come over now. They hesitate before agreeing, somewhat frustrated. At Chloe's home she goes over what happened, and Alfred believes that it was the rising sun that caused her to wake up. Chloe points out that the sunrise does not shine in her way or else it would have occurred before. It rises in the East, while her house points West.

After they call this clue 3 they leave for reviewing. Alfred gets inspired after Milo recalls the solar panels Rudy was working with, and he remarks that if his hunch is right, then tomorrow they will find out what happened.

The next morning, Alfred gathers everyone to witness the solar panels light up from the rising sun in the distance. He goes on to explain that Rudy accidentally sat them in a position that reflected the beam, creating one strong enough to damage that area of the float. This is also why Chloe was woken up by light the other day. In order to prevent this from happening again, Alfred decorates the float using some small mirrors. Which also help hide the damage.
