Alfred and Co. head over to see the decorative fountain Helmut will be unveiling soon. They see everyone else has already showed up, and an impatient Cynthia demands that Helmut hurries up. With some help from Grizz, the duo reveal the monument, made from cut granite. However, everyone picks up a foul odor in the air Mrs. Payne is frustrated. She demands answers and storms off with Cynthia.

Helmut can't understand what happened, and he starts to panic as everyone else starts coughing from the fumes. They take off, leaving him, Grizz, Alfred and Co. and Rudy there. They put up signs to keep everyone away from the monument. Helmut is going to leave as well, until Alfred stops him to ask some questions. They ask what he put into the fountain during its reveal and Milo asks what made the water boil like it did. Helmut recalls the process and Alfred promises to figure out what went wrong.

Camille overlooks the footage she was recording of the unveiling, and she mentions how the footage is shaky. Alfred recalls that he felt rumbling during this, and he believes it connects to the smell. They head back to the fountain in order to look for more clues and collect a water sample. By now the scent has lessened severely. Alfred then laughs as Milo asks if he's going to be sick from touching the icky water, but Alfred remarks that its just average water.

Suddenly, Polly runs over to declare that the sky is falling. The others follow her back to her garden to find it covered in sandy, white stuff. Camille remarks on how unlikely it is for sand to fall from the sky. Alfred assures Polly that everything will be fine, and if she cleans off her garden the plants will be fine too.

As they go over the clues, Alfred gets a theory and they head to the top of the Hedgequarters. He points out that the mountain near where they were is volcanic. The monumental fountain doesn't smell, it was just volcanic activity occurring. This gives everyone an idea, transforming the fountain into a pool and hot tub. It's the perfect thing to have right here, and Cynthia is delighted to have this one-of-a-kind thing none of the other kids has.

Suddenly, she ends up slipping from her spot and she falls into the water. Everybody laughs and she eventually joins in.
