The trio head over to Cynthia's for her birthday party. Camille is less than thrilled, so she only wants to stay for a little while. Cynthia greets them rudely, then tells them to go and sit by "Edgar-whatever his name is", who greets them nicely in response. Milo goes to check out the food, but each thing he picks up suddenly disappears from his hands. Camille goes off by herself and asks the boys to tell her when they can leave, and suddenly, the table cloth holding the food and drinks gets spilled.

Everyone is surprised when Cynthia blames Milo for doing it. He denies having touched it though, and he is joined by Alfred and Camille who vouch for him. Alfred determines this to be a mystery and overlooks the crime scene while Camille tries to understand Milo's recap of events. She admits that she didn't see anything and now she's beginning to doubt him as well. Just then, Alfred notices that the trail of punch forms an odd, zig-zag pattern on the carpet. Milo panics and Cynthia gets perturbed and tells them to leave as the other guests start to worry her place is haunted.

Alfred, Milo and Camille follow after the trail, which leads them outside. Alfred assures Milo that it can't be a ghost because they don't leave trails behind them, but Camille frightens both of the boys. She begins to recall a horror-mystery book she's been reading as of late and Milo wants to go back inside; but Cynthia denies him access and pushes him back outside. She still blames him for the upset.

The trio see something move when Camille begins to panic, feeling something on her back. She initially thought it was just Milo, and Alfred observes her back to find a small piece of skin. They head to the Hedgequarters to contemplate what they found thus far; the spilled punch trail, the skin, and they noticed the invisible creature likes to climb trees.

Once he has an idea, Alfred, Camille and Milo return to the party to reveal the truth. Alfred suggests that Cynthia apologize to Milo for false accusations, then he puts down a leaf to show everyone. They watch with surprise as bites are taken out of it, and initially Cynthia thinks it's a trick, but Alfred reveals that with some light, they can actually see the culprit: a chameleon. It came into Cynthia's house and was eating the food from the party, then when it tried to leave, it accidentally pulled the cloth with the food down.

The party resumes and Milo begins to pet the chameleon when suddenly, it uses its tongue to steal his glasses and pull them onto itself. This causes everyone to start laughing.
