Mr. Thomas is leading Milo, Camille and Alfred up a mountain covered in snow, discussing the upcoming sled race and who will win. Milo mentions that he got a new board as they reach the path, finding it covered in a lot of snow. They can't go sledding with the hill like this, the odd snow rolls could be hazardous. Mr. Thomas mentions that a few days ago they weren't like this.

It's then Cynthia and her cousins, as well as Mr. Russard show up. Milo points fingers at Cynthia, but she blames him and Camille for sabotage. Their accusations cause a snowball fight, when Cynthia throws a snowball that hits Mr. Thomas. Then Milo throws one at Mr. Russard when Mr. Thomas suggest they just head back to school for the time being. He tells them that unless Alfred and his friends can solve the mystery, they may have to cancel the race.

While overlooking the snow for any sort of clues, Camille remarks that there isn't any sort of footprints or anything that looks strange, and Alfred takes a picture of the scenery. He decides the undisturbed snow may be a clue, and they decide to hide for a bit to see if any possible culprit shows up to make more of the snow rolls. After a while nothing happens, when suddenly, Milo trips and rolls down the hill. The group decide to head to the top but see nothing suspicious or unusual, but once again Milo ends up falling and slides down the hill.

As they go to get him, Camille mentions that an ice layer may be underneath the snow. She rubs some of the snow to see a shining layer beneath it, and Alfred begins to theorize. They do not find anymore clues, leading Milo to suggest that they go inside to warm up with some hot chocolate. They agree when Cynthia's sled flies out of her hands. It lands nearby, and Alfred is so curious that he remarks this is a clue too, then they head to Hedgequarters.

Overlooking the clues, Milo is stumped but Camille and Alfred seem to understand. Alfred compliments Camille for catching on and he leads them back to where they were in order to explain the snow rolls to everyone else. The snowy hill is covering a layer of ice, the snow rolls formed because of strong winds pushing it. Seeing that there is nothing to be worried about, Mr. Thomas agrees that they can still have their sled race. Cynthia and Milo line up at the start and everyone stands along the side to watch. Milo and Cynthia have a lot of fun and Milo manages to win the race, even setting a new speed record.
